Financial fraud in Canada causes massive losses, with victims losing over $700M in 2025 alone (Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre 2025). Fraudster impersonations and fake investment scams are among the many crimes. Identity theft and devastating romance scams leave people helpless, embarrassed, ashamed, and alone.

We must educate older adults in proactive self-care to best equip independence and improve their quality of life. Our Eldercare needs are continually growing, and creating a village of care is essential. We must be our own advocates in self-care, not just to enhance our daily living but to reduce the strain on caregivers and healthcare systems.

My interactive training is designed to bring the community together, creating a stronger foundation for aging in place and keeping an eye on each other. We explore the need for physical, environmental, and financial awareness to create a shield of awareness. I call this the Awareness Compass.

The training addresses everyday life and considerations with a high focus on the financial awareness piece. The financial risks we face today as a generation of seniors are immense and heavily targeted by scam artists across the globe.

It is critical to be able to decipher genuine friendship, support and companionship from that of predatory behaviour. Our lives, and those of our loved ones and stakeholders, depend on that.

The interactive workshop helps you recognize risk responding effectively, connecting with a community of peers facing similar challenges, making use of local programs, and accessing supportive resources.

You will leave this course with new knowledge, awareness, and a plan for reducing the risk of a crisis in your life or someone you know.
