More About Me

My career started in the front lines general patrol, and moved into police “use of force” and firearms training, managing patrol teams, marine patrol, and special investigations.

My duties ranged from responding to minor offences, major physical assaults, animal abuse, sexual assaults, violent intimate partner crime, financial destruction, attempted murder, and murder.

Having a keen interest in police tactics, I became a certified instructor in many levels of “use of force” skill sets, and took courses in de-escalation techniques as well as extensive mental health training.

I have worked in special investigations, as a detective of intimate partner violence and Elder Abuse. General Patrol was an introduction to the lives of people struggling through major crises in their lives. I often responded to calls for service involving seniors who struggled to share these events.

Later in my career, I moved to special investigations working in Intimate Partner violence and, in particular, Elder investigations. Here, I worked with families in crisis seeking resolution in meaningful ways. I conducted investigations in family homes, seniors facilities, and public spaces. In many instances abuse by family members, caregivers, and even strangers, resulted in seniors being taken advantage of.

My work in community policing has inspired me to create a training course in Elder Awareness. As our world moves fast, it is important to navigate and understand how to avoid risks that can invade our spaces.

My Career Training Includes:

  • Forensic Interviewing and interrogation
  • Trauma informed interviewing
  • Public and Police Safety Instructors Course (RCMP)
  • Ethics, train the trainer course
  • Multiple Mental Health courses and certifications (and mandatory recertifications) with daily on-duty interactions.
  • Crisis Intervention and De-escalation
  • Conflict Resolution

Policing has provided me the privilege of working directly with the community, which required careful and thoughtful follow-up working with families where crime had entered their lives.

In the last 15-20 years, as we have learned to navigate the information on the superhighway, it has been increasingly difficult to stay ahead of financial scams and victimization.

My goal is to help families survive and thrive in our digital world.
